Cena Rumbles with Rappers Over Theme Music

The guys of '90s hard-core rap group M.O.P. say John Cena and the WWE jacked one of their songs for John's entrance music and they're alleging some pretty slippery moves in the process.

Jamal Grinnage and Eric Murray -- that's Lil' Fame and Billy Danze -- want to put the kill switch on Cena's song, "The Time Is Now," saying it borrows heavily from their hit "Ante Up." In a federal lawsuit, they claim WWE's lawyers actually found some person to sign off on the license who was only a receptionist and didn't have authority to do so.

The biggest point of actual musical contention is one non-English line -- "BRRR Abado" -- that appears in the original song once, and in JC's song three times.

The suit asks for destruction of Cena's song and $150K from the defendants. No word from Cena or WWE yet.

LOL this is pretty great.

So I did this song like 5 years ago and unfortunately I don't own any publishing on it! I could have done something real ignorant with that publishing yaper. I did turn in the samples that I used on the song including the MOP part. I was hoping at least they would get paid off it. 150 racks seems kinda low though. That shit is on commercials, video games and dvd's. Not to mention all the times it has played while Cena enters the ring. I guess this doesn't really suprise me considering WWF cleared the wrong sample for one of the beats I did on the album. Last I heard that record had sold 370K, maybe it will go gold one day. Another plaque that I will never get for my wall.

Found this at my dad's house the other day. Luckily parents keep all this type of crap because I had totally forgot about it. I was actually goin to do a producer album in 97 or 98 around the time I put out this single but I never finished. There are like 5 songs sitting somewhere I'll try to dig out at some point.


So since most of the people hearing "Home" haven't heard of the artists that I was paying tribute to on this song its only fitting that I hit yall with the full length songs of the samples I used in the hooks. They're all Seattle hip hop artists from the 90's. If people want to hear more I can dig thru the tapes and put some more songs up.

I Glow

So must of yall know the clean version of the album has leaked. The label sent out the radio promos and there it goes. All I ask is that if you actually like the album, buy that shit. If you think it sucks, delete it. I know I've been lazy on updates but I'm going to try to throw stuff up a lot more frequently.

A lot of people's favorite song off the album is "Glow" by Elzhi and Royce. This initially was a Elzhi solo cut with three verses. When I tried to get the session for the song, El couldn't find it so he had to redo it. The version on the album is a bit different and took me a bit to get used to. Here is the demo version.

Town Bizness pt. 1

For people in Seattle, Bellingham is pretty much known to people in the town as the place where your flop homies go to college because they couldn't get in to UW. Times are changing though! My dude Malay is making a name for the "ham"? and people probably have no idea.

I met Malay thru Redskin in 05. Skizzle was telling me that we should work together and eventually we linked up. Dude pretty much blew me away (pause) with his talent on ALL instruments and we started doin beats together. One of the first one's we did turned into this

Before working with Malay I didn't really think it was possible to get the sound I wanted without using samples. He definitely opened my eyes to the other side. We did a ton of beats in a couple of months (some of em are on my album) and eventually I took off for Oakland and Malay moved to NY. While I was wrapped up in G Unit world Malay kept on his grind for a couple years and eventually made some serious power moves! Chilling on Making the Band, bowling with Usher, you know that superstar shit lol. You also might have seen this video
